“Future of book reading is everywhere” is the product line of the Amazon Kindle. However, its proving quite true in terms of age. So if you are not so youth types in terms of age , there are chances that you may be end up falling in love with the Amazon Kindle.
So, 70% of kindle owners are of 40+ years of age. These demographics have been drawn by Stephen Peters on his Kindle Culture blog. Peters is writing a book on the Kindle and as part of his research trawled through the "Average Kindle Owner’s Age" thread on the Amazon Kindle forum.
After correlating information from 300 posts, Peters discovered that around 21% of posters identified themselves as being between 50 and 59. The second largest group (19.1%) were in their 40s, with the third largest (18%) in their 60s.
Using a broader demographics results :
Younger adults (18-34) – 22%
Adults (35-54) – 38.4%
Older adults (over 54) – 37.3%
Ask me and I will agree so much with these demographics, as its a normal human factor. You can really count the number of youth on your fingertips , which may like to carry such a bulky cumbersome device with them all the time.
Technology is getting slim and smaller day by day , and people want to hear things rather than reading . And when you have concept of AudioBooks , why the youth will like to buy such a device for reading. You need to be relaxed, and should have some extra time to spared to read stuffs. In the fast paced generation , I think the people who have such kind of time, are the people who are either retired from work, or have lots of spare time for reading.
After all, I dont find Kindle a fashionable device from any point. Hence, youth wont be that much interested in such stuff.
So, if you are in love with kindle , and aged below 40 , time to rethink , whether , are you living an over aged life ??
